Why OB GYN Jobs are Stable Careers
Working with pregnant women is a huge part of these doctors" careers. They provide pre-natal care and deliver sonograms. They play a huge part in the actual labor and delivery and are trained to do an emergency delivery. They also work with the mother after birth to ensure both mother and child stay healthy. An obstetrician or gynecologist does so much more than just childbirth though. They diagnose and treat diseases, work with cancer patients and provide routine check ups. Women will always need doctors for their feminine problems and there is no foreseeable decline in the need for OB GYN doctors in the future.
The education required to obtain an obstetrician or gynecologist job can be rigorous, which has resulted in a lack of qualified people to fill the job openings. The training for these jobs includes a four year college degree followed by a four year medical degree after which time the student must enter into an internship of up to eight years. With sixteen years of schooling, one can imagine that there is an excess of OB GYN careers without enough doctors to fill them.
Ob Gyn jobs are estimated to grow by 10 percent within the next 10 years. With the combination of a lengthy amount of schooling and a growing need for medical professionals, it is easy to see why a job as an OB GYN is a stable career choice. There will always be pregnant women in the world as well as women with diseases and health problems they need checked out by a trained and specialized doctor.
OB GYN doctors need to be highly trained, motivated, and passionate about their job. If they can achieve all these things, there is no reason why it can"t be a rewarding and reliable career.
